And the Beat Goes On

Most schools have band, but here at TOIS, we have different types of band.  If you are interested in advancing your musical talents and maybe even career, check out these options only offered at TOIS.
TOIS Jazz Band is a group of band members who play flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, drums, bass, piano, or guitar. All of the musicians audition to be accepted into the group, and have band as a class during the day The band meets once every Tuesday after school from 2:35-3:15 in the band room, and performs at the band Winter Band Concert, March Music In Our Schools Month concert (at OTHS), the Spring Band Concert, and the TOIS Arts Cafe Night. The group plays many different styles of jazz from big band swing, to funk and rock.
The Concert Band is made up of seventh and eighth grade musicians who take band as a class everyday. The Concert Band meets on Wednesdays after school to rehearse together, and performs in the Winter and Spring Band Concerts. The instruments in this ensemble include flutes, clarinets, bass clarinets, alto saxes, tenor saxes, baritone saxes, trumpets, french horns, baritone horns, and a variety of percussion. The Concert Band competes in the High Note Music festival every year, where they travel to a location in PA or NJ, perform for judges, receive a score, and then spend their remaining time in an amusement park. For the past ten years, Concert Band has earned the highest rating of “Superior” at their competitions.
Band Buddies is collaborative group of musicians from sixth through eighth grade who also participate in the band program. Students are matched with another student who play their instrument, and spend time working together, practicing, and learning new things together.
