Cross Country at OTIS

Olivier Alexis

The boys´ cross country season here at OTIS has come to a close. If you are interested in joining next year, anyone grades 6-8 can join. Runners ran 1.5 miles every practice. They utilized the entire TOIS campus for a training camp. They practiced every day until 4 p.m.

Cliff Hannah is the top runner. He has shown that he is one of the most confident runners, even against the most difficult competitor Thompson Middle School.

Mr. Hoyle said that, ¨The hardest part of the job is getting kids to truly believe they can be great at Cross Country, because oftentimes they have struggled in other ‘traditional’ sports.¨

Mr. Hoyle teaches 6th grade Connections. His wife also teaches here in school. When asked if he played sports when he was younger, he said, ¨Yes, you name it, I played it.  Football, basketball, and track were my primary sports once I entered high school.¨

Mr. Hoyle also has a dog and a guinea pig and he grew up with a big brother.
